Just a note of explanation
Jun. 14th, 2003 06:40 pmThe post yesterday about the lack of response for people invited to the Meet The Baby event wasn't intended to elicit explanations from people explaining why they couldn't attend. We figured that, when drawing up the list of people to invite, to pare the list to people who a) were likely to be interested in attending and b) who were in rough geographic proximity either to the site or to where we live. This is why the invitations didn't reach everywhere— even on our respective friends' lists, there are lots of people who'd either have limited or less interest in attending, and a slightly smaller number who geography would seem to disqualify- if you didn't live in Skagit Valley (many of
damashita's friends from when we lived there), or, say north of 520 in metro Seattle, you probably weren't on the invite list- nothing personal, just figured it wasn't likely you'd want to make the trip, which, from experience, is quite a schlep. Nor did we think that everyone on the list would be able to attend- people have lives of their own and things going on which are higher priority. Not a problem there, either. In fact, we figured ¾ probably wouldn't be able to attend- but that'd still leave a gathering of about a dozen people. Instead, we got responses in the affirmative from ¼ of that number, which is just a little disappointing.
If you haven't met the little guy and have any interest in doing so, let us know. We're not out and about all the time, but manage to make the occasional outing and would certainly attempt to accomodate a request if at all practical.
