May. 23rd, 2003 07:08 pmWow.
Got a call today from a recruiter who works for a firm which is to Volt what going to a breeder for a dog is to a puppy mill. Rather than submit zillions of resumes to openings (i'd assume in the theory that if you throw enough of anything at the ceiling, sooner or later something is going to stick), they actually talk with their clients and find out what their interests and strengths are, as well as advising them if there are particular things they should try to avoid in interviews. Anyway, he said to expect to hear from the folk who are filling one position possibly as early as Tuesday— it'd be a fair paycut from my last position, but given the economy, i pretty much expected that. It is, however, more than unemployment, and it'd be working again, and in something interesting. And.... he caught me in the zone today when i was still under the influence of cold medicine but reasonably coherent- a window of about two hours, or just about enough time to make an unscheduled run to Bellevue to interview.
If you're amongst the numbers of dispaced technical workers and would like his contact information, let me know.
gwynn_aaron,
ithilien, and
annathepiper- check your mail- i know you three are looking for things in the area presently.
Everyone except Nicholas was sick yesterday, and we're gradually getting back to full strength. Anyone (amongst those of you locals) planning on going to Folklife this weekend? Perhaps we can arrange to meet- more likely Sunday or Monday.
