It's lunch time on the last day of security training week. Today's topics have been the fun ones- denial of service attacks, packet spoofing- the fun client-server stuff that i understand and like- and have even played with once or twice (like the time Derek and i crashed the PSS call centre server at Keane by finding machines stupid people had left logged in, and running a remote batch file on them which pinged the server a million times with 1 MB data packets. We learned after that that we could do so more efficiently by sending fragmented 8 KB packets, fragmenting them in the IP header, so we gave ourselves another Sunday without calls that way.).
Unfortunately, i'm incredibly sleepy today. Almost dozed off during the first of the presentations at 9 a.m. and have been consuming incredible amounts of caffeinated beverages since to make sure i stay awake.
Goth Prom at the Mercury tonight. Yaaaaay! Going ultra-dressy, Victorian walking-out attire, as sported at Norwescon on Saturday evening- tails and top hat, silk shirt and vest, cravat.... you get the idea. If i manage to creep into any pictures, i'll link them when posted.
Going to eat now. Hopefully that'll help me stay awake.
