Well, had "final fitting" on our outfits for Saturday last night. A few modifications here and there. For anyone who'll be at the con who wants to find me, if it's before 6 p.m. or so, look for a royal blue and black jester's hat (i'm going with the "dress" model, as opposed to the purple, yellow and red one). The rest of that outfit will be a bright purple and teal metallic fabrics, so i should be fairly visible. If all else fails, find the March Hare (complete with really loud pleather tam and golf-pants) and he'll have a fairly decent idea of where i might be.
Evening wear moves from Alice in Wonderland All Grown Up to something a bit closer to Bruce Sterling's The Diamond Age- look for the people in neo-Victorian dress attire.
Anyway, enough on what to look for to find me on Saturday. Back to last night. I didn't get any of the DHTML work done i wanted to play with (new nav controls for avarielelf.com), although i think i've found a set that i can make work for what i want to do.
After everyone left from the fitting, things got odd. With help from damashita, i now have streaky highlights here and there, which is a new concept for me. That wasn't the odd part- the odd, kinda freaky strange woman from around the corner came knocking on our back door at about 11:40- her husband apparently took off with her son, and she'd just gotten done with the police and didn't feel safe in her house, so she ended up staying and sleeping on the sofa. Too weird.

Well, i'm thinking about leaving early today and getting a good jump on my vacation. I've been trying to get things wrapped up as much as possible, and everything that's not contingent on someone else is pretty much stable. Things that are depending on someone else- like our automation guy to actually save the drive images i finished for automating upgrade scenarios are out of my control, and if they're in no rush to do it (i asked for these images to be saved to the ultra-secret location he saves stuff and won't disclose to anyone else over two hours ago), i can't proceed and it'll wait until Wednesday. So the question is, how much longer do I wait?

at least for the next five days. :-)
As promised, no update on Melpomene's Daughter this week- Content has been updated through the last section on the website if you haven't been keeping up with it. Serialization will continue next Thursday as scheduled, and, hopefully during this time off, i'll manage to get even farther ahead.
Right now i'm still looking for a navigation system that works the way I want it to to go with the site- thinking DHTML, perhaps in an include (so that it's portable throughout the whole site); and getting more of the content marked up so that it's ready to be posted.
