Wow.

Yeaaa! I have 66 hours of accrued vacation. That works out to a week and 26 hours if you didn't want to do the math on it. Essentially 8 full days of not having to be here. By the end of the month, it'll be close to two weeks. Here's the glorious part- 61 of those 66 hours won't carry over, so i have to take at least a week and a half off this year (and, over the course of a full year, will add 80 more. So figure i can take a week off of work every quarter. Not sure how long i want to wait- it'd be nice to be able to take time off, get a job with another group, and actually be rested enough to feel motivated going into it. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Almost time for the weekly Shared Services meeting. Hopefully David has brought muffins or bagels or something.

Think Snow!

Well, there's hope I could get tomorrow off. As of 7ish, we were getting mixed snow and rain, and with any luck, as the temperatures drop overnight, it'll transition to snow and snow. Because snow is a relatively uncommon thing in the lowlands of Puget Sound (not, mind you, in the foothills of the Cascades), just a few inches are usually enough to cause late openings or closures. Then there's the added benefit of living far enough north of work that no one really knows what the conditions are like up here, although that alone wouldn't be enough to make me take the day off, as tempting as it would otherwise be. Still, 3 inches/8 centimetres would be nice :-)
