Hockey Season Approaching!

ravencallscrowsA few momentous changes highlight this pre-pre-season:
First, in the 'Retirements' category, we can bid farewell to Kirk Muller, who played for many years with the New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars, as well as with Toronto, the New York Islanders and Florida, and retires with a few Stanley Cup rings. Also a fond farewell to long-time New York Rangers goalie Mike Richter. And, in the "Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish" retirements, former Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche goalkeeper Patrick Roy has ended his playing days.
In "Unretirements" only a single remarkable case worth mention: the return to the NHL of Dominik Hasek, who led the Buffalo Sabres to a Cup Finals appearance and later won the championship as a member of the the Detroit Red Wings.
And in the "What Were They Thinking" category, the Phoenix Coyotes unveiled new uniforms for the upcoming season:

Now, this reporter was never a real fan of the old Coyotes jersey, (image courtesy of NHLUniforms.com):
but honestly, the new ones aren't just retro, they're also uglier than the ones they're replacing. Now Phoenix looks as if they're trying to look like Detroit minor league knock-offs, in brick and sand rather than red and white. Even more unfortunately for the people in Arizona (as stupid a place for hockey as Nashville, Texas and Florida), the relocated Winnipeg Jets will still play like minor league Red Wings wanna-bes.
