Nicholas is over twelve weeks old now, and still amazes us regularly. I've been a bit remiss on updates lately, so here's a high-level overview of the past few days.

Friday we ventured into The Village (Magnolia Village, all of about three blocks which are allegedly the centre piece of this neighbourhood) for a little festival which made the one in Ballard the previous weekend, so eloquently described by [livejournal.com profile] greenshadows as "an excuse for a po-dunk street fair sort of thing" look like Seattle's Folklife and Bumbershoot rolled into one. There were a handful of inflatable party-type things for the kids and maybe two dozen different vendors, ranging from pedlars hawking overpriced crap for children to crafters and artists— some of whom were even talented.

Among this latter group is our new friend Michelle, who does some interesting glass work. We ended up talking with her for about three-quarters of an hour before heading north to meet [livejournal.com profile] damashita's mom and take the boys to the movies. M. had mentioned that she had a new batch of work in the kiln that'd be out on Saturday, so we headed back down to take a look at those. She'll be doing product-for-service trades with [livejournal.com profile] damashita, which will be good for both of them. Also tossed out a few ideas which might make interesting projects- rather than using chain to connect different glass panels, partially embedded maille could make significant enhancements to the pieces, both visually and texturally.

Sunday was the now-weekly trip to the Ballard farmers' market. Perfect kilt weather in Seattle. Didn't see [livejournal.com profile] mahariel, but did see the Victorian stylings of Jillian and Alexia. M. is also doing that market, and started working out details of the trade.

Monday nicholas wasn't feeling well. Of course by the time we took him to the doctor's office Tuesday all was well with the world again. He weighed in at nearly fifteen pounds.

Yesterday was a slow and lazy day until the evening. Having heard two good reviews within a week— from M. and from [livejournal.com profile] greenshadows partner A.— about Two Cranes Aikido dojo, we went up to see a class. [livejournal.com profile] damashita would really like to train again (i would too, but she's higher priority), and this looks like it might be a feasible option for her. The amazing part was watching nicholas watching the akidoka- he was absolutely fascinated watching the students, and sat spellbound looking at them for about twenty minutes (or forty times what'd be expected from a child his age). Planned on doing coffee and/or the Merc, but got back too late for the first and needed to eat before seriously considering the latter, which didn't end up happening as a result.

We'll all be heading to Pioneer Square for the First Thursday art walk this evening, if anyone else feels inclined to meet us there.

Last weekend was our anniversary, so I took Sunday off from the market. I'll be back this weekend.

It was very nice having the whole weekend free, though.
