Jul. 22nd, 2003 09:58 pmWell, following the leads of
arienm and
skyewolf1, i've played with the new style. Unlike them, i've reverted to my old look. Where the new layout has a number of things which can be customized in it, doing so within the S2 system removes some little things- like the ability to change fonts and date formats. I'm not fond of sans serif fonts, and have always handled dates in 'day, date month year' format, rather than 'day, month date, year.' It might be possible to adopt the new style and edit it in the old manner, but that's too much work at present.
In other news, i have an installed and mostly-working Linux installation dual-booting on this machine. Unfortunately, Netgear don't make a Linux driver for the USB wireless card i've got, so for the time being, the Linux side of the box is off-line. :-(
It may be possible to reconfigure the generic one, but as above, that's too much work. There's also a weird video issue- the refresh rate for the GeForce4 driver is too low, and the OpenGL driver isn't bundled with it, but needs to be installed seperately. Shouldn't be too much of a problem- it's a self-extracting driver, but it won't install from within X, so i'll have to remember how to kill XWindows to get to a console to do it from there. *sigh*
And the Champions' Tour soccer games kicked off tonight here in Seattle with my team (Celtic FC of Glasgow) playing Manchester United at Seahawks Stadium. Man U, for those of you who aren't football fans is something like the NFL Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers of the '70s, the San Francisco 49ers of the '80s and '90s, the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Lakers all rolled into one. In short, either they're your team or you hate them. Well, Celtic failed to show up for the match. Well, not quite. There are guys who look like the Bhoys, and they're wearing the proper green and white uniforms, but that's where the similarity stops with the team i know. They're losing 4-0 with about fifteen minutes remaining. :-(
A bit cooler in the Emerald City today, but the last few days have really sapped the vitality. I hardly have the energy to sit here and type, and not much in the way of motivation either.
