First of all, there are quite a few industrial bands who call the Emerald City home- Assemblage 23 and Doll Factory are two which come instantly to mind. There are a few area clubs, of which the Mercury is my favourite. Then there's the SeaGoth "Crackboards" (http://pub53.ezboard.com/bseagothforum) which are a regular online haunt for many of the area folk- and are known to suck up as much time as they're allowed. Some good discussions there- the Politics forum is one of my favourites. Smart people, and you don't have to be local to post on the boards- most are Seattle-Tacoma area residents, but we've a few from Vancouver and Victoria, BC; and others scattered about- a few Californians who are past or future Seattleites, a few from metro Detroit, a couple from Tampa who are planning on moving out here in a few years, even a few from Northern Ireland (who come mainly for the political discussions).
Instead I am subjected daily to streetbound, gin-fortified line dancing convulsions and Kenney Chesney CDs stuck on repeat. A place where 'Jesus is the telephone repairman on the switchboard of my life' bumper stickers reside alongside the good ol' Stars and Bars. A place that takes college football more seriously than national security.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Hell. Humans call the place Sarasota. But 'Purgatory' is pronounced G-a-i-n-e-s-v-i-l-l-e.
...now I'm off to the SeaGoth "Crackboards" to see how much of my time they might suck up.
