Qwest was really annoying last night. Damn voice-mail tone wouldn't quit on the phone. Ordinarily, this would just be a minor inconvenience. Unfortunately, DSL isn't available in Magnolia yet. Cable modems are, but we've still got a few months of dial-up payment prepaid, so we're not in a huge hurry to jump into that- at about the time the dial-up would be due for renewal, we'll evaluate and see when DSl will be available, and how the costs equate. As a result, the modem here (because it wasn't getting a dial tone) wasn't able to connect. Grrrr. No mail, LiveJournal, crackboard, or anything else.
Fortunately, it was back in operating order this morning.

That happened to us a couple of weeks ago. We found that if you held the phone off the receiver until the tone stopped, then dialed up after, that it would go through. Just set the phone back in the cradle gently after you connect.. not that you need to now, but for future reference. A pain, but better than nothing.
